Year 7x3 - Hotel Character

Develop your character.

You should write a short script and practise your character.

Think about the Fawlty Towers clips we watched.

Think about some of the examples we worked on class.

Who/what will you be? 
What words/actions/props will you use/need to convey your character to the class?

Year 8 Simpsons Project - over the next 2 weeks

You should do some research about packaging. 

You could use the internet.

You should pay attention when you go shopping!

Think about:
your product:  food, toys/games, clothing, lunch box etc
your target audience
the colours you will use
the font you will use
the images you will use

If you are going to make 3D packaging, you will need to collect the things you will need eg cardboard, ribbons etc

You can write as much detail as you like.  This summary will support you in the writing of your film review.

Extension: you could begin to consider how you will use film terminology in your review and make notes in addition to your summary.

Collect and bring in some packaging from a product.

You could bring in empty packaging from a food or drink product or a toy.

yr7 Postcard From Space - Due in Wednesday 26th

Imagine that you are in a hotel in space. 

Write a postcard to either a friend or a family member telling them about your holiday.

You could comment on the hotel, activities, food...

7y2 Poetry Homework - Due in Wednesday 19th September

Research Lewis Carroll.

Collect at least five facts about him.

You must be ready to share your facts in class.

All must write the facts as bullet points (this is a minimum requirement) however, some of you may prefer to write your facts in full and complete sentences.  There will be a few of you who will write a short factual paragraph about Lewis Carroll.

7x3 CASSIE homework - Extended Due date: Thursday, 20th September

Some of you have not handed in your CASSIE homework.  Please think about the examples I shared with you in our lesson today and hand in next lesson (Thursday 20th September).

Remeber to try to include examples to demonstrate how CASSIE works in creative writing.


CASSIE
C = Colours
A = Adjectives
S = Sentence variety
S = Senses (sight, smell, sound, touch, taste)
I = Imagery (simile, metaphor, personification, onomatopoeia, alliteration)
E = Emotions (happy, sad, afraid...)

• Using 'space' as your theme, create a CASSIE information leaflet. 
• Your leaflet must explain why it is important to use CASSIE in creative writing and you should write  examples of how CASSIE could be used in a story about 'space'.
• You could illustrate your leaflet to make it more interesting

Research 'road movies'.  Find their meaning and list some famous examples.  What journeys are being taken (literally and metaphorically)?

2) Select a book for reading sessions.  This book must be in your bag at all times as you may need it for tutor time as well as for all your English lessons

Every week I will set homework which you must enter in your planner, however, I will also post that homework on this blog. Therefore, even if you are away from school, there is no excuse for not completeing homework.
